"Signed, The Addict"
by Ashley Collie-Owen
And, what for you had I fallen;
Overlooked and left behind;
For once I was merely stumbling;
But this time, I may actually die.
Those wicked steps that grew higher;
Still yet, I clumsily tried to climb;
While waterfalls and flowing waters pushed me under;
Flagrantly tasting of pills and wine.
I’d never tell them I was drowning;
Though I was running out of time;
And the desperation to breathe again;
Was never once evident or crossed my mind.
I was too happy to die for you;
You were the love of my life.
